The pig & Whistle is world renowned for being the oldest continuous licensed pub / premises in South Africa. The old
stone walls show the age and character of this unique pub. there is so much history that one can spend hours in
silence or listen to stories from the locals.As the pub is often used for small functions and get togethers, it has been
eqipped with air conditioning and large flat screen TV's.
We have a variety of accommodation options to suit the individual. Experience the charm of staying in a National Monument, the oldest licensed premises in SA, with old fashioned charm, service and personal attention.The Pig & Whistle has 10 beautifully restored rooms with magnificent antiques. There are 4 en-suite rooms and 6 traditional old fashioned rooms with communal bathrooms. These rooms have recently been equipped with new Sealy Posturepedic beds and Percle linen. The first owner, thomas Hartley, built his house in 1821, a three storey dwelling with 2 bedrooms on the top floor. These original rooms are rooms 5 and 6 in this old settler Hotel.The Dining area which is situated in the heart of the hotel, is conveniently close to the pub and kitchen. In combination with the tea garden and veranda it can seat 132 people.An a la carte menu is served throughout the day with a very popular Sunday lunch menu.
